8First, see the military record for his son, Thomas Henry (The National Archives; Kew, Surrey, England; War Office: Soldiers' Documents, First World War WO363). On April 8, 1915, Thomas lists his father and his mother, at separate addresses, as his next of kin. However, when he signed his will, on July 3, 1916, he left everything to his mother. There is no mention of his father.
As well, see Mary Ellen Fletcher's marriage certificate (Stoke upon Trent, Staffordshire, 1916 (Apr 1 - Jun 30), Volume 6B, Page 388). On June 10, 1916, her father is recorded as "John Fletcher (deceased)".
So John Fletcher had died between April 8, 1915 and June 10, 1916.
